1 profil a day, DAY 2: Jane Goodall

Today is the profil 2/4 of our section, so enjoy!

When Jane Goodall arrived at Gombe Stream National Park in 1960, she was only 26. At 10 she was already passionated by Africa. She arrived their without an university curriculum, the scientist were looking for a new fresh eye. Her researches and work was totally innovative for the time. Her work taught us a lot of things about chimpanzees and about human being. It permited to advance on the conception we have about animals. With patience, not rushing the chimpanzees, taking time to approach them, she gradually managed to be accepted for her observations. Jane discovered in 1960 that chimpanzees make and use tools. It is considered like one of the greatest scientific discoveries of the 20th century. As an ecologist, humanist and activist for the ethical treatment of animals, Jane have a force of compassion and she is also a messenger of Peace.

Anecdote : Everywhere she was going she had with her Jubille, a monkey plush from the London Zoo. It was in fact a gift from her father.
